Revelation 8 pt 2

Some will argue, perhaps with good reason, that the trumpet judgements are simply God allowing the natural greed of man to destroy his environment and suffer the consequences of his evil ways.
-
Revelation 8 pt 1

The silence of half-an-hour marks a moment of dreadful intensity before the outpouring of the trumpet judgements that will have such a devastating effect upon this earth.
-
Eph. 2:6 Happy New Year!

The King of mercy will surround his throne with the splendour of his eternal riches, expressed in his beloved family who have been redeemed, forgiven, made pure and wrapped in the robes of righteousness!
-
Ephesians 1 pt 4

Please do not feel offended that Paul begins this letter by mentioning his name first. Koine Greek has ways of expressing emphasis and in this sentence, the absence of a definite article attached to Christ Jesus shows that the emphasis is very much upon Jesus and not Paul himself!
-
Ephesians 1 pt 3

Praying this morning that we will all have the wisdom and kindness to reach out and include those on the fringe of the church that they may feel a part of the church.
-
Ephesians 1 pt 1

Whether we are called to serve as apostles planting churches, or baking cakes for our next-door neighbour, I am praying this morning that the will of God, the ‘thelema’, will become so strong in all of us, that we will step out in confidence and serve the Lord according to his will.

Surviving Revelation pt 6

Revelation is deeply intertwined with the rest of scripture, and to separate it out as a completely separate book from the rest is to lose the plot. One can argue that the whole of scripture can be found in Revelation so that it becomes the perfect capstone of scripture.
-
Surviving Revelation pt 5

Recently I taught an overview of the whole of the Book of Revelation to a class, from the beginning to the end. I had to cut one or two corners! It took me a whole hour and I was shattered at the end of it but it served its purpose of giving the students a…

Sunday Review 18

I was remembering that a while back I bought a brand-new leather-bound gold-edged bible. I had visions of becoming a bible-teacher I guess. I was very chuffed with it. And then I managed to spill a cup of coffee over it. The pristine pages now have dried coffee stains in one corner.

Surviving Revelation pt 3

Much is to be gained by approaching Revelation in a simple, down-to-earth and literal fashion. There are symbols to be found, and these are very obvious, but for the most part a straight-forward approach works best.
-
Surviving Revelation pt 2

The Revelation of Jesus is too much to bear for some people who hastily retreat to more comforting verses in the gospels. Sadly though, they miss out on the true nature of Christ and the glory of the Kingdom that is to come. Indeed, one could argue that many will actually reject Jesus because he…
-
Surviving Revelation!

Revelation needs to be understood in the light of the whole of scripture and not a book in isolation. All scripture is God-breathed and we can never say that some verses are more important than others. We have to study scripture as a whole.
-
Revelation 7 pt 14

But yet we have a faithful Lord, walking with us, ready to rescue us before He pours out His wrath on this earth,, ready to restore us and wipe away our tears, ready to welcome us into eternal glory! All will be well! All will be well!
-
Revelation 7 pt 13

God will watch and observe how individuals, churches, and the nations of this world will react to the plight of the Jewish nation during the tribulation. Many will distance themselves from Israel for fear of being identified with them. And many will take them in and protect them, even though they endanger themselves.
-
Revelation 7 pt 12

The tribulation will undoubtedly bring great food shortages, as the end-time beast imposes his strangle-hold upon the Middle East. Life in exile or under siege will be hard indeed. But yet the tribulation will serve its purpose and when it is brought to its end the Lord will be there to gather his children and…

Sunday Review 17

. We will have to dig deep to go beyond the morose touching this nation at the moment and find the real joy of Christmas in the birth of our saviour!

Saturday thought…

When I approach writing from this point of view then my anguish and inhibitions melt away. I am just a labourer, shovelings words and phrases here and there, doing what I have been told to do, and hoping to receive an honest wage from my Lord on the day that he returns.
-
Revelation 7 pt 11

The road ahead holds difficult days indeed. We will be shaken to the very core by the immensity of the times. But yet God the blessed Father will greet us and embrace and cherish us with His divine presence.
-
Revelation 7 pt 10

Revelation does not shy away from the subject of martyrdom. The rise of the end-time beast and his empire will certainly have a profound effect upon the Middle East and elsewhere.
-
Revelation 7 pt 9

The great multitude, dressed in their white robes of salvation, stand before God who is seated upon the throne and for ever and a day we will give thanks for this salvation that we did not deserve but that has been achieved by the Lamb upon the cross.
-
Revelation 7 pt 8

And the palm branches also take us forward to the Second Exodus where Lord Jesus will lead a glorious procession into Jerusalem, through the Mercy Gates,

Revelation 7 part 6

But for me, the main message here is that God has chosen a number of Israelites, 144,000,that they are the first-fruits of many others, that they are sealed by salvation into Christ Jesus and they will be protected by their faithful Father.
-
Revelation pt 5

The 144,000 are the first-fruits: they go ahead of the multitude of Israelites who will wonderfully receive Christ Jesus as their Messiah when he returns in power and glory.
-
Revelation 7 pt 4

God is about to release the trumpet judgements upon the earth and the purpose of the seal on the forehead of the 144,000 is to protect them through this ordeal.
-
Revelation 7: pt 3

One of the most valuable lessons to understand when reading Revelation is to approach it simply, without being too clever. If it says that the 144,000 are from all the tribes of Israel then that is exactly who they are!
-
Revelation 7 pt 2

The four winds describe the trumpet judgements of chapters eight and nine of Revelation. But yet four angels are posted to keep these winds blowing until God decrees that the right time has arrived. These judgements will bring immense chaos and disorder to this world yet God is in sovereign control.
-
Revelation 7 pt 1

It is a joy to reach the reassuring shores of Revelation chapter seven, having crawled through the trials of the previous chapter.

Sunday Review 15

As ever, so glad for all the support that folk give me regarding this site. I would no doubt keep writing, even on my own, but it is so much better with a few friends cheering me on!
-
The Sixth Seal pt 8

I would suggest that since Matthew 24 and Revelation 6 are running parallel and describe remarkably similar sequences, we can therefore assert that Christ will gather the elect, immediately before the wrath of God is poured out upon this earth.
-
The Sixth Seal pt 7

So the end-time sequence of Matthew 24 and Revelation 6 are the same: the tribulation, then the disturbances then the return of Christ. Once again we see that Revelation 6 runs remarkably parallel with the Olivet Discourse of Matthew 24.
-
The Sixth Seal pt 6

Many have argued, quite rightly, that Revelation chapter six runs remarkably parallel with the Olivet Discourse of Matthew 24. Therefore, the cosmological disturbances of Matthew 24:29-30 are one and the same with the cosmological disturbances of Revelation 6:12-15. Both mark the exact same point in time.
-
The Sixth Seal pt 5

Fallen man has always preferred to deny the existence of God, hoping in vain, that they will somehow escape his wrath. But the cosmological disturbances, the darkened sun, blood-red moon and falling stars, have concentrated their minds and they are forced to recognise His throne and His wrath.
-
The Sixth Seal pt 4

I appreciate this all probably sounds rather gloomy and sober, but there is a day of reckoning coming upon the corrupt and the cruel, which will precede the heavenly righteousness of Christ’s kingdom that will be established on this earth.
-
The Sixth Seal pt 3

God has created the most magnificent of worlds for His children to dwell in. But yet, in His righteous anger, He will bring it all down upon those who refuse to accept His grace and mercy.
-
Sunday Review 14

Welcome to this Sunday Review. This past week I have been continuing with Revelation 6 and the fifth and sixth seal. I will carry on with this tomorrow, coming to its dramatic climax swiftly.
-
The Sixth Seal pt 2

The very end-times will feature a great number of earthquakes, as the earth and creation itself will groan in expectation of liberty. Some have associated this great earthquake with Zechariah 14:4.On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two…
-
The Sixth Seal pt 1

There will be a series of cosmological disturbances just after the tribulation and just before Christ Jesus returns in power and glory. We can put aside the popular notion that the sky will be full of fluffy white clouds when Christ Jesus returns. This will be a dark day of judgement and vengeance. Every eye…
-
The Fifth Seal pt 4

Our initial verse tells us that there will be a wave of intense persecution focused on the Middle East, leading to martyrdom for countless Christians. This will need an immense level of trust between ourselves and our King. This will call us to step forward as lambs, enfolded by the love of Christ, surrendering ourselves…
-
The Fifth Seal pt 3

How long must the injustices of fallen man plague this earth. But in all things there is the perfect timing of God. No matter how impatient we become, and this is quite understandable, , we must surrender to God’s perfect timing, praying that the day will hasten, When the time is perfectly right, Christ Jesus…
-
The Fifth Seal pt 2

It breaks our heart when we consider the injustices of this world. Everywhere, the rich and the corrupt profit ruthlessly from the sufferings of the poor without respite. This stands in sharp contrast with the kingdom of righteousness of our Sovereign Lord that he will establish here on earth when he returns in power and glory.
-
The Fifth Seal

The fifth seal also brings a great word of encouragement. It is true that there will be a wave of persecution and martyrdom during this time as the antichrist fights in anger. But yet the martyrs will be brought under the altar, close to Jesus. They will be safe in his presence. He has been…

Sunday Review 13

The week just gone by, I have been commenting on Revelation 6 and the infamous four horsemen of gloom and doom. I will carry on this week and cover the cosmological disturbances and the coming day of judgement. Please bear with, we will get to the joy of Revelation 7 soon!
-
The Fourth Horseman

The grim measure of these verses holds a toxic stench. Here lies the harvest of unrighteousness, the fruit of the sinful nature of fallen man
-
The Third Horseman part a

Yesterday’s post might have been discouraging as we learnt that the end-time beast would weaponise food supplies in order to conquer the souls of the populace. However, the Lord has promised to keep us through this time of tribulation. These will be lean times indeed but the Lord will always walk with us and care…
-
The Third Horseman of Revelation 6

This morning we explore the rider on the black horse who carries the scales. The bitter fruit of warfare and persecution is inevitably hunger and famine.
-
Laodicea 4

Yesterday, we explored how we can wrongly assess ourselves and come to the conclusion we are doing quite well, especially if we compare ourselves with others, but when we compare ourselves with Christ then we begin to realise our inner poverty and reach to him for his golden riches.
-
Laodicea 3

Jesus really cuts to the chase with this comment. It is remarkably easy to judge and assess ourselves and come to the conclusion that we are spiritually doing quite well. We may be regular church attendees, pay our taxes and read our bibles and consider that we are making the grade.

Laodicea 2

In the mountainous regions of modern-day Turkey, the water source can arrive at two quite different temperatures. In some parts, the water can be heated by thermal springs and can be a luxuriously warm temperature. In other parts, the water can be cool spring mountain water. Both are delightful in their own way.
